Memory cards 'need to be quick'

Tuesday 17th of June 2008

Memory cards need to be quick if they are to meet the demands of digital camera users around the world, it has been suggested.

According to technology expert Don Lindich, writing for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, high-speed memory cards can offer some significant advantages over their "regular" rivals.

He insists that with regular memory cards, users will tend to find that reviewing the images on their digital camera takes an infuriatingly long time and that the device becomes generally more "sluggish" to utilise.

Indeed, using a high-speed, as oppose to a regular memory card can mean the difference between spending a few seconds downloading your images and spending several minutes, he claims.

"Given its advantages and the modest price premium, I recommend that readers purchase high-speed memory cards exclusively and pass on the regular versions," said Mr Lindich.

Last week, one of the world's largest memory card firms SanDisk announced that it had taken over the US-based digital media company MusicGremlin.
